McDermott is a leading provider of integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) services for upstream oil and gas developments worldwide. The company operates in more than 20 countries and its locally focussed and globally integrated resources include approximately 11,200 employees, a diversified fleet of speciality marine construction vessels, fabrication facilities and engineering offices.
To maximise its worldwide talent pool and resources McDermott looked for a faster, more agile way of integrating crew, training, qualification and whereabouts information in real-time. Top of the agenda was replacing a time-consuming, manual process with an automated solution to combine numerous spread sheets, databases and paper files into one single database available to all.
After a thorough evaluation of the marketplace, McDermott selected a Dynama solution which is specifically designed to help organisations simplify the task of finding, deploying and managing appropriately skilled staff in a challenging marine environment.
The new software solution has consolidated McDermott’s in-house developed safety training database, a third part application for crewing, in addition to numerous spread sheets, paper files and databases and brought together all relevant staff information into one place.
McDermott now uses Dynama to schedule 7,075 people across 11 primary vessels, plus a number of support vessels and 4 marine bases.
A series of significant benefits have been realised including:
"Since introducing Dynama we can look-up crew members around the world and see their work history and where they working, then assign them to a special project or give them a new role based on their skills and experience."
